Cheryl McLennan brings more than 30 years of experience in the leisure, health, and aquatic industry, with over 20 years dedicated to Belgravia Leisure. She began her career in the health and fitness sector as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, aqua teacher, and Health & Fitness Manager, before transitioning into aquatics—a field where she has truly made her mark.
Throughout her aquatic career, Cheryl has worked alongside Olympic coaches and held nearly every role the industry offers. Her leadership journey has seen her progress through key positions, including QLD Aquatic Manager and Acting National Aquatic Manager. She now serves as the National Product & Development Manager at Belgravia Leisure, driving innovation, inclusion, and participation across aquatic programs nationally.
Cheryl is widely respected for her passionate leadership and unwavering commitment to setting others up for success. She is a fierce advocate for drowning prevention and has conducted extensive research into child safeguarding practices within aquatic environments to ensure every child and team member feels safe and supported.
Her work is deeply rooted in making a positive impact in communities, breaking down barriers to access, and increasing participation in communities. Cheryl is an active contributor to the industry, regularly collaborating with aquatic bodies and presenting nationally for both ASCTA and AUSTSWIM.
Cheryl’s dedication extends beyond the workplace. She proudly served as a public relations liaison officer at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, supporting the International Olympic Committee, royal delegates, and elite athletes, and has also coached her daughter to compete at an elite level in triathlon.
Driven by purpose and people, Cheryl continues to lead with heart, making a lasting difference in the aquatic industry and the communities it serves.
